How to add your golf score using TheGrint

Hello Grinters! Today we are going to talk about one of the most essential functions of TheGrint App: Posting a Score

Do you know how many ways we have to post a score? I would say more than a few.

To begin with, let’s talk about the difference between the two scores that can be posted: Total Scores and Hole-by-hole Scores.

The Total score will most likely be used when you need to post a Round that was posted earlier in the day, or even in the past. A round that you don’t remember or simply don’t want to include details for. When all you know is your overall score and the teebox that you played from. It is a quick manual upload!

The hole-by-hole score is when you track your score during the round or after your round but include the details for stats. With this option, you can also track other info such as the number of putts, teeshot accuracy, teeshot clubs hit, 1st putt distances, penalties, and even that casual drink you may enjoy while playing. It is a great way to measure your performance over time and see exactly what parts of your game need improving and what you are really good at. We highly recommend you track your scores while playing and add as much information as you can. Trust me, it will be worth it!

So, grinters, keep reading to find out the steps to upload scores using our App and/or website!

To add a Total Score using TheGrint App:

  1. Login to our app
  2. Tap on the Plus Symbol at the top right of the Home Screen.
  3. Tap on Post Score.
  4. Tap on Post Total Score.
  5. Select the Golf Course
  6. Choose the Teebox
  7. Tap on 18 Hole if you need to change to a 9 Holes Round
  8. Add your Total Score
  9. Tap and Hold on “UPLOAD”

*make sure you add your Adjusted Gross Score, also known as the Net Double Bogey. It is the par of the hole plus two strokes plus any stroke allowance in that hole that the player may have.

For example: Let’s assume Bob is playing a course with a Playing Handicap on 12. He is now playing the 7th hole which is Par 4 with a Hole Index of 9. Therefore, his maximum allowance on that hole is a 7.  Why? Well, he gets 1 stroke on that hole. So Double Bogey on a par 4 is 6, plus the stroke allowance = 7.

Here are the steps to fill out your scorecard. Keep in mind these instructions include ALL the options. If you want to upload less info, simply include what you want to include and do not add the rest.

Make sure you know how to write the scorecard so the Team can upload all the information correctly.

The meanings of the Acronyms for the Penalties we have are:

  • S = Greenside Sand
  • F = Fairway Sand
  • H = Hazard (Penalty Area)
  • O = Out of Bounds
  • D = Drop Shot
  • SS means that you hit the Greenside Sand twice.
  • FF means that you hit the Fairway Sand twice.
  • DD means that you had to drop the ball twice (because of unplayable or anything like that).
  • FS means that you hit the Fairway Sand and then the Greenside Bunker.
  • OS means that you hit it Out of Bounds and then you hit it into the Greenside Bunker. And so forth.

Also, just so you know that if the Tee Accuracy isn’t marked on every Hole (including Par 3’s), the Team won’t upload the Tee Accuracy for you.

Finally, keep in mind we actually have a team of real humans reviewing your scorecards when you upload them. We have a service window 11:59am – 8pm EST. So if you are outside that window your score will upload as soon as the window opens.

And that is a wrap for today! Hope you enjoyed this week’s “How To” Post a Score. If you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. We are always here to help!

Happy Grinting!
