Golf Fact. (Dec 16th, 2013)

Do you know how many Dimples a Regulation Golf Ball Has?

A Regulation Ball has exactly 336 Dimples. This number is regulated by the Royal and Ancient Golf Clubs of St Andrews and the USGA.

Also a Regulation Ball can’t weight more than 1.62 oz and has to have a diameter no less than 1.68 inches.

Another quick fact about Golf Balls… the first golf balls were hard wooden round balls, used between the 14th and 17th century. During this time the featherie ball was developed and introduced; these were hand-sewn round leather pouch filled with chicken and goose feathers, coated with white paint. At that time each ball was worth between 2 shillings and 5 shillings, which is equivalent to $10 and $20 today.
