How TheGrint Top 100 is built
Tens of millions of real reviews and ranking lists from golfers who played the courses, not panel opinions or reputation alone.
Head-to-head, not stars
Golfers rank each course they play against the other courses they've played, so every list settles into an order built from real comparisons instead of a star average.
Experience carries weight
Golfers who have played many courses, especially elite ones, count for more. Someone who has played Pine Valley, St Andrews and Royal Melbourne brings a sharper comparative lens.
Silver Accolades
Alongside each Top 100, Highly Rated recognizes exceptional courses that narrowly missed the list but stood out within their state, province or country.
Top 100 courses by state
How many of each state's courses made TheGrint's USA Private and USA Public lists. California leads with 25, then Michigan with 11.
About TheGrint Top 100
What is TheGrint Top 100?
Five lists of the best golf courses (USA Private, USA Public, Canada, UK & Ireland, and the rest of the world), ranked by the golfers on TheGrint who played them.
How are TheGrint Top 100 rankings calculated?
Golfers rank the courses they have played head to head, and golfers who have played more courses, especially elite ones, carry more weight. The lists come from tens of millions of real reviews and ranking lists, not panel opinions or reputation alone.
How often are the rankings updated?
Each list is published as an annual edition. The current edition is 2026.
What are Silver Accolades?
Silver Accolades (Highly Rated) recognize exceptional courses that narrowly missed a Top 100 list but stood out within their state, province or country.
