Yaps on TheGrint let you share how your round went in your own voice. After you finish playing, you can record an audio or video Yap up to 2 minutes long, and your Yap appears directly on your scorecard. Yaps are free for everyone.
This post covers what a Yap is, how to record one, what to talk about and how it fits with the rest of your scorecard. TheGrint already keeps your scores, stats and handicap; Yaps add the story behind the numbers.
A Yap is a short audio or video message you record after a round to say how it went. It lives on the scorecard for that round, so the numbers and your take on them stay together.
We built Yaps because a scorecard tells you what you shot, but not what it felt like to shoot it. An 88 can be the best round of your season or the one where you were two over through 15.
Every golfer has the story after the round: the drive that finally found the fairway, the chip that rolled in, the lip-out that still stings. Until now that story stayed in the parking lot or the group chat. Yaps keep it on the scorecard, next to the round it belongs to.
Whether you played your best or your worst golf, we want to hear about it.
You record a Yap from the Customize Your Post screen right after you finish your round, and it is added to that round's scorecard.

Talk about whatever made the round memorable, good or bad. The best Yaps are specific: one shot, one hole, one feeling.
Record it before you leave the course, while the details are still sharp. If you are recording an audio Yap, a quiet spot makes it easier to hear later.
Yaps add your own account of a round to the scorecard that already holds the numbers. Your hole-by-hole scores, putts and other stats still come from what you enter while you play, and they feed your golf stats and handicap tracking on TheGrint.
The Yap sits alongside those numbers. When you look back at a round months later, you will see what you shot and hear how it felt.
Yes. Yaps are free for everyone, so every member can record an audio or video Yap after a round. TheGrint is free, always: score tracking on your phone, GPS, games and live leaderboards are all included for every golfer.
A Pro Membership on TheGrint adds features such as advanced stats, Insights and watch scoring. See what Free and Pro include. For more advanced features, try TheGrint Pro free for 7 days.
A Yap can be up to 2 minutes long, whether you record it as audio or as video. That is enough time to walk through the shot you will remember, the hole that got away and how you felt about the round, without turning it into a full podcast.
Yes. Yaps are for every kind of round, your best and your worst. If a three-putt on 18 cost you your number, a Yap is a place to vent about it. If you finally broke 90, it is a place to show it off. Either way, it stays with that round on your scorecard.
Your Yap appears directly on your scorecard for the round you recorded it about. The scorecard keeps the numbers, such as your hole-by-hole scores and stats, and the Yap adds your own account of how the round went, in your own voice or on video.
No. Yaps are free for everyone on TheGrint, so every member can record an audio or video Yap after a round without a Pro Membership. Pro adds other features, such as advanced stats and watch scoring, but sharing how your round went is part of the Free experience.
