Get an official Handicap ID in the app (US)
TheGrint is a licensed data affiliate of the United States Golf Association® (USGA®), and has worked with the USGA for almost a decade. That lets golfers in the United States buy an official USGA Handicap ID directly in TheGrint, without joining a private club. Your Handicap ID is tied to your local Allied Golf Association (AGA), which sets the price. TheGrint passes that price through with no markup, and your official handicap and your TheGrint scoring stay connected automatically.

A handicap estimate before you go official
Every Free member sees a handicap range, such as 12~14, to get a sense of their level. Pro members see a more precise whole-number estimate, such as 13. These are TheGrint estimates. Decimal precision is shown only when you have a USGA or GHAP handicap.
Outside the US: a GHAP handicap
In every country except the United States, TheGrint offers a GHAP handicap through its partner GHAP (Golf Handicap for Amateurs Platform). GHAP is its own handicap system, separate from the USGA and the World Handicap System, so a GHAP handicap is not a Handicap Index. It works across GHAP's partner apps, including TheGrint. How your Handicap Index® is calculated
Under the World Handicap System™, your Handicap Index is based on the lowest 8 Score Differential™ values from your most recent 20 scores, not your scoring average. Each differential accounts for the Course Rating™ and Slope Rating™ of the tees you played, so a higher score on a harder course can count for more than a lower score on an easier one. When you post hole by hole, TheGrint applies net double bogey for you and works out your adjusted gross score. Revisions run nightly.
Your handicap in every round
TheGrint puts your handicap to work: net scoring, games, live leaderboards, match play, Groups and Teams Cup. Then go past the number with stats, handicap trends and Anti-Handicap, which shows how you play on your bad days.
Winter golf and posting season
In some regions the local AGA sets an inactive season. Whether a round can be posted depends on where the course is, not where you live. If you travel from an inactive area to a course in an active season, that round can count if it otherwise qualifies.
Built for trust
Meaningful edits or deletions to posted scores show up to friends as EDITED or DELETED, and playing partners can attest your scores. Both help keep handicaps honest.
