Anti-Handicap: How You Play When It's Not Your Day

Anti-Handicap is a TheGrint performance stat that shows the other end of your scoring. A handicap is built from your best 8 differentials in your most recent 20 rounds; Anti-Handicap uses your 8 highest. The gap between the two shows how consistent you are. Anti-Handicap is not an official handicap.

  • What it uses: your 8 highest differentials from your most recent 20 rounds.
  • What it shows: how you score when it's not your day.
  • The gap: a bigger gap between your handicap and Anti-Handicap means more variation between your best and worst rounds.
  • Where to find it: the first screen of Stats, right below your handicap.
  • Not official: a TheGrint stat, not part of the World Handicap System.

How Anti-Handicap works

Under the World Handicap System™, a Handicap Index® is calculated from the lowest 8 Score Differential™ values among your most recent 20 scores. It shows how well you've shown you can play. Anti-Handicap flips that around: TheGrint takes the 8 highest differentials from your most recent 20 rounds, your worst 8 in that window, to show how you play when things go wrong.

Read the gap, not just the number

Put the two side by side. Your handicap answers "How good are you when you're playing well?" Anti-Handicap answers "How bad are you when you're not?" A small gap means your scores stay close together from round to round. A big gap means your best and worst days are far apart, which often points to blow-up holes and mistakes worth fixing first.

Where to find it

Anti-Handicap sits on the first screen of the Stats section in TheGrint, directly below your handicap. It updates as you add rounds.

Not an official handicap

Anti-Handicap is a TheGrint performance stat. It is not a Handicap Index, it is not part of the World Handicap System, and it doesn't replace an official handicap.
